Let's face it! Times are getting tougher and the fat years are over. Every business now has to carefully review their headcount needs and potentially restructure or adjust the business size to the reduced demand of the market. This sometimes requires tough decisions which are difficult to communicate to the affected employees. In this workshop you will learn how to professionally confront a redundant employee with the message of having to leave the company. You will get prepared for the emotional reaction and how to present a severance package in a fair way without making concessions that you will regret afterwards. We will also discuss the possibility of outplacement and similar services to help exiting employees to find a new job and feel supported. In times of increased employer branding and high attrition rates you do not want leaving employees to talk negatively about your company or alienate the remaining employees with poisoning comments and actions.

    Tilman Reiger

    With two decades of HR leadership, consulting, facilitation & coaching experience Tilman Rieger founded 8C Consulting in order to help his clients reach more effective communication, leadership and collaboration.
    In his former role as HR Director of General Motors Europe Tilman was overseeing 3000 employees across Europe and driving major corporate changes, restructurings and business downsizings. In his HR career he has conducted hundreds of exit conversations, mostly convincing redundant employees to leave based on a mutual agreement rather than dismissing them.
    Today, Tilman works as an internationally certified executive coach, with particular expertise in communication, change management, emotional intelligence and cross-cultural management.
    Tilman holds degrees in Personnel Management & Economy as well as a Master's in Educational Science, Psychology and Sociology.
    He is of German and U.S. nationality, and has lived in Chicago, Frankfurt, London, Paris, Madrid, Zürich and now Shanghai. He is fluent in German, English, and conversational in Spanish, French and Mandarin.
